Organise an event in North Somerset
We've put together all the information you need to organise an event in North Somerset. We've included guidance on how to run an event and how to complete the application process.
North Somerset hosts a wide array of events on council land, from international and national to regional, community and charity. These events include the world-renowned Beach Race, Weston Carnival and Weston Hospice Care charity walks.
We understand the importance of events - including the Glow Festival, Eat Festivals, and art installations such as Dismaland and SEE MONSTER - in shaping our area as a high-quality place to live, work, and visit. We recognise their contribution to attracting investment, visitors and stimulating the local economy.
There are many different types of events that take place in North Somerset. These include outdoor festivals, concerts, community and charity events, and sporting events. These are often held on public or private parkland, open greenfield spaces, or land with little or no facilities. Typically, these events are put on by commercial organisations, community voluntary groups, and charitable societies for fund-raising.
For the purpose of this guidance, our events are split into tiers. This indicates how many people are on-site at one time.
Tier 1 | up to 499 |
Tier 2 | 500 to 2,000 |
Tier 3 | 2,001 to 5,000 |
Tier 4 | 5,001 to 10,000 |
Tier 5 | over 10,000 |
The responsibilities of event organisers to ensure safety are equally important for small outdoor charity events as they are for major impactful events.
