North Somerset schools will be closed and many shops and businesses will also close.
On the day, there will be changes to a number of council services including recycling and waste collections. Changes to the opening hours of libraries and leisure centres are listed below and changes to recycling and waste collections next week are available on the council’s website.
Leisure centres
- Backwell - open from 7am to 10.30am and from 3.30pm to 9pm
- Hutton Moor open from 6.30am to 10.30am and from 4pm to 9.30pm
- Parish Wharf - closed all day
- Scotch Horn open from 6.30am to 10.30am and from 4pm to 9pm
- Strode Road - closed all day
Libraries
- Campus – closed all day
- Libraries - closed all day
A national moment of reflection has also been arranged for Sunday 18 September. A one-minute silence will be observed across the UK to give everyone the chance to come together to reflect on Her Majesty’s life and legacy.
The nationwide silence can be marked privately at home or with friends and family, out the doorstep or street with neighbours, or at any locally arranged community events and vigils.
The state funeral will take place on Monday 19 September at Westminster Abbey, the historic church where Britain's kings and queens are crowned, including where The Queen's coronation took place in 1953.
The event will be broadcast on BBC television and will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer, with updates on the BBC news website and BBC radio channels throughout the day. Other networks are also expected to broadcast the event.
The requirement to hold a TV licence for viewing ceremonial broadcasts – including The Queen’s funeral – has been relaxed by the BBC Board until Wednesday 21 September.

Councillor Steve Bridger, Leader of North Somerset Council, said: “We pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her years of service and our thoughts are with her family during this period of national mourning.
“There are Books of Condolence open at the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare and Castlewood in Clevedon, which we welcome you to sign and leave your own tributes and reflections.
“For some of us, the events of the last few days may have brought back memories of our own grief and the loss of a loved one, so it is important to be patient and kind with one another as we pay our respects.”
