North Somerset library service was awarded a grant of £215,900 by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports, delivered by Arts Council England, to renovate the library.
North Somerset Council is providing additional in-kind support and other funding, and the project is supported by Clevedon Town Council. The project funding safeguards the future of Clevedon Library for the next ten years.
The project will provide:
- a new accessible community space and meeting room for businesses, community organisations and other partners to deliver services and hold events and activities
- self-service technology, which you can find out more about on our extended access page
- energy efficiency improvements to heating and lighting
- improved accessibility
- upgraded toilets
A ‘call and collect’ service will be available from Monday 27 June. Customers can reserve books online at LibrariesWest or request them by contacting the library by phone on 01934 426020 or email at clevedon.library@n-somerset.gov.uk.
Pre-ordered books and audiobooks will be available for collection from the annex in the library grounds (to the left of the front door) on Monday, Tuesday and Friday 9.30-12.30, 1.30-5pm, and Saturday 9.30-1pm. Books won’t be due back until October, but customers can use the returns box to return items.
Library children’s activities, including Story time, Rhymetime and the Summer Reading Challenge, will take place on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons in St John’s Church Hall next door on Hillside Road, starting on Tuesday 12 July.
Customers can visit any other library, including Portishead, Yatton, Nailsea and The Campus, and use their library card. Customers can also get free eBooks and eAudiobooks from home with their library card at LibrariesWest.
