The council’s heritage team is joining forces with Weston Museum to host the event which is a celebration of ‘Archaeology and Creativity’, the theme of this year’s festival.
The event, aimed at families with children of all ages, will run from 10am to 3pm. Those who attend will be given the opportunity to get involved in a range of crafts and activities to bring to history to life, including:
- constructing an Iron Age roundhouse,
- designing a Roman mosaic,
- weaving a Viking braid, and
- creating Medieval stained glass.
Displays will include collections of artefacts and archaeological finds, surveying and detecting equipment, as well as demonstrations to show people how to discover and research archaeology and local history in North Somerset.
