Mark Canniford said: “Shopping locally at Christmas makes a huge difference to businesses and North Somerset’s economy.”

“This Christmas is going to be tough, so people will understandably be looking for ways to save money. By staying more local you can reduce the cost of travelling, reduce your carbon footprint and support our town and village centres. This helps to keep the shops and event spaces open, protects local jobs and helps preserve the heart of our local community.”

Paul Batts, Chairman of Weston’s Business Improvement District: “With the increase in living and energy costs, it’s more important than ever to shop locally and support the hundreds of independent businesses we have in the town centres. Especially with Small Business Saturday taking place on 3 December. For example, in Weston-super-Mare come and discover Orchard Meadows and Grove Village where you will find a vast selection of gifts from fantastic local businesses.”
