Help shape the future of bus travel in North Somerset

Help shape the future of bus travel in North Somerset by attending a Bus Forum either online on Monday 25 November or in Clevedon on Wednesday 27 November.

North Somerset Council is inviting residents, businesses, councillors, and anyone interested in the future of local bus transport to join an upcoming Bus Forum. Attendees can tell bus operators and council teams about bus travel experiences and what improvements or changes they’d like to see in future.

Last year the feedback received from residents who attended the Bus Forum led to Claverham and Cleeve having access to a bus service after previously being without for 18 months. The X5 bus service was re-routed to serve the villages after the council listened to requests that were shared at the Bus Forum.

This event will provide a platform for community members to share their experiences, insights, and suggestions on bus services in the area.

The forums will cover a range of topics, including:

  • passenger experience
  • infrastructure changes to support public transport
  • bus services in North Somerset.

The Bus Forum is an important opportunity for community engagement, with council teams and bus operators present to discuss current services and plans for future improvements.

Cllr Hannah Young, Executive Member for Highways and Transport at North Somerset Council, said: “We’re committed to making public transport more efficient and accessible for everyone. That is no easy task when resources are stretched but these forums are a great opportunity for residents to share their experiences and ideas directly with us and we work hard to find ways to improve our local public transport network where that is possible. Whether you rely on buses for your daily commute or use them occasionally, your input can make a real difference in shaping services that work for our community. We encourage everyone who has a view on local bus transport to come along and get involved.”

There are two sessions available, allowing participants to choose between an online and an in-person option. Both sessions will cover the same information, so attendance at only one is needed.

We look forward to seeing you there and working together to improve public transport in North Somerset.

North Somerset Council and the West of England Combined Authority are working together to deliver the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funded by the Department for Transport (DfT).

The council is investing in the public transport network through BSIP, ensuring the local area remains accessible and well-connected to keep all road users moving as North Somerset grows.

This plan aims to create an efficient bus network that makes buses the first public transport choice for our residents and ensures long-term sustainability. It includes increasing public transport reliability and frequency through service and infrastructure improvements, upgraded bus stops and new transport hubs as well as improved cycling and pedestrian facilities.
