Library members can now research parts of their family history for free using Find My Past at the local studies library in Weston-super-Mare Library. This new resource includes the 1921 census which provides detail on location, age, marital status and occupation, as well as information about those living at the same address.
Find My Past is a searchable online archive of more than 13 billion records, featuring everything from parish, school, census and migration records to military collections from around the world.
In addition, people can access the family history research site Ancestry through computers in all North Somerset libraries.
BFI Replay is a new free digital archive now available on library computers. Created by the British Film Institute (BFI) to preserve and digitise 60 years of television history, the archive brings together TV programmes, soaps, documentaries and regional news gathered from archives across the UK.
Weston Library is holding an affordable book sale from Saturday 27 May, which will include books about the local area. Books will be priced at 50 pence each, or three books for £1. The books being sold are extra copies that are no longer required and will help make room for new stock.
There are also local history displays and activities taking place in libraries including Portishead, Weston and Yatton.
