Nailsea and Clevedon future housing – have your say

People living in Nailsea and Clevedon are being asked to share their views to help establish the future needs for housing in the two towns. The information gathered will be used by North Somerset Council to establish the kinds of housing, including affordable housing, local people need.

The Clevedon and District Community Trust Group (CDCT) are helping support this Housing Needs Survey. Further information about CDCT can be found on; https://www.ourcdclt.co.uk/.

The information collected will support the formation of policy as the council updates its Local Plan and will provide valuable evidence when planning applications are reviewed with reference to the type, tenure, and general good mix of a housing development.

Cllr Mike Bell the council’s deputy leader and executive member for housing said: “You might have concerns about the affordability of housing, or you may live in a home that’s too large or small for your needs. Or it could be that you have a family member who wants to move out and start living by themselves but hasn’t yet been able to do so.

“You might be living outside the two towns and commuting in while wanting to move closer to work, or equally you might be happy in your current home. Whatever your circumstances, if you have an interest in housing in Clevedon and Nailsea the council would really like to hear from you.”

Clevedon Yeo ward councillor Richard Westwood said: "The future of housing is always an important issue to any community. I would encourage local residents to have their say by responding to this survey so that the views of people in Clevedon are taken into account."

Nailsea Youngwood ward councillor Sandra Hearne added: “We would be very grateful to the residents of Nailsea to share their views. The more people who contribute, the more accurate the information will be for the council to act upon.”
