The projects focused on delivering lasting impact through inclusivity, innovation, sustainability, delivering events, boosting wellbeing, and strengthening community ties.
Here are some of the highlights of cultural projects that took place across North Somerset thanks to funding from the UKSPF.
Clevedon Town AFC – A heritage mural project celebrating 150 years of club heritage engaged 556 people, connecting the club with local groups to recruit volunteers.
Somerset Storyfest – Over 1,400 schoolchildren participated in refugee-led arts workshops, fostering empathy and reflection.
Super Culture – Weston Encounters brought theatre, dance, and comedy to over 6,400 people, boosting local event footfall. It also provided creative opportunities for young people and expanded the knowledge of local volunteers.
UKSPF funding also supported an additional night at the GLOW Light Festival, increasing it from 4 to 5 nights.
Friends of Grove Park – A new Volunteer Coordinator helped expand community events and increase volunteer hours. Over 700 people took part in the project which saw volunteer hours increase to 5,621 (from 4,257).
Curzon Clevedon – A seven-month event series drew over 2,900 additional visitors to the cinema, trained staff in live event tech, and recruited student volunteers.
Cllr Catherine Gibbons, Deputy Leader of North Somerset Council and Executive Member for Children’s Services, Families, and Lifelong Learning said: “Thank you to all the projects that have created opportunities across North Somerset. Lots of people have been involved learning new skills as well as leaving lasting legacies. We are pleased to have supported both community building and future careers in our area.”
Councillor Mark Canniford, North Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Placemaking and Economy, said: "These projects have strengthened social bonds and increased opportunities for participation across North Somerset. We look forward to seeing what may come next for these organisations.”
