Workplaces were presented with awards in the ‘North Somerset Healthy Workplaces Awards’ scheme and delegates heard ‘Stories of change’ from employers who are creating a healthier workplace for staff.
There was a buzzing marketplace of stalls to showcase all the expertise in health and wellbeing across North Somerset that workplaces can access.
Under the scheme, businesses and organisations are supported to make positive changes in their workplace. They can access tools and advice to support their employees with a range of health and wellbeing topics such as mental health, physical activity, stopping smoking, menopause, men’s health, musculoskeletal health, alcohol and substance use and financial wellbeing.
Cllr Jenna Ho Marris, North Somerset Council’s executive member for public health, presented the awards and said: "It was great to be part of such a vibrant event celebrating all the fantastic work within North Somerset workplaces to support staff health and wellbeing. Fourteen workplaces received 16 awards at the event- including ourselves! As Harvard Business Review says, [t]he health, productivity, and diversity of employees are key to an organization’s success.”[1] I am delighted that anchor and partner organisations in North Somerset agree, I want to see even more next year.
The health and wellbeing team at North Somerset Council received some great feedback from the event, in particular that the speakers and awards were inspiring and that it was an uplifting day.
