Out of the 2,187 primary school applications received by North Somerset Council, figures released today show 98.81 per cent were offered one of their top three preferences, with over 95 per cent of applicants receiving their first choice.
From applications received for the 2023/24 academic year by the national closing date in January, the council will make offers to all who applied this national offer day. Figures show:
- First preference met – 95.02 per cent (2,078 applications)
- Second preference – 3.06 per cent (67 applications)
- Third preference – 0.73 per cent (16 applications)
Only 26 children out of 2,187 were not offered any of their preferences. However, all those who applied for their local school were offered a place.
Parents who applied for places online will receive their outcome by email today. It could take until lunchtime for emails to arrive, so parents and carers are asked to be patient. Those who applied using hardcopy forms will receive their offer by post in the coming days.
Parents and carers of children not offered one of their top three primary school preferences can appeal the decision. This is more likely to occur when parents and carers choose not to submit three preferences, including their local school. More information about the appeal process can be found at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
