2,468 secondary school applications were received in total for the academic year ahead, and of these 92.38 per cent (2,280 students) were offered a place at their first-choice school.
A further 4.62 per cent (114 students) were offered their second preference, while 0.89 per cent (22 students) were offer their third-preference school.
Only 52 students out of 2,468 were offered a place at a school outside of their first three preferences.
Parents who applied for places online received their outcome by email yesterday. Those who applied using printed forms also received their offer by email yesterday.
Councillor Catherine Gibbons, North Somerset Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Children’s Services, Families and Lifelong Learning, said: “I’m thrilled to see that almost all our young people in North Somerset were offered a place at one of their top three secondary schools.
“Processing thousands of applications and trying to match as many children as possible with their preferred schools is a significant task. I’d like to thank our council officers and our schools for all their hard work in making this possible.
“We wish all the young people starting secondary school this September the best of luck in this exciting new chapter.
“For next year’s applications, I encourage you to submit three preferences – including your local school – to help make the process quicker, easier and more successful.”
Any parents and carers of children who were not offered one of their top three secondary school preferences do have the option to appeal the decision.

Parents who have applied for places for children starting school in September 2025, or moving from Infant to Junior or First to Middle school, will receive their outcomes in April.
