The town has again been awarded the prestigious Purple Flag in recognition of its safe and diverse evening and night-time economy.
It follows a joint submission by North Somerset Council and the Weston Business Improvement District (BID) to the Association of Town and City Management who manage the national accreditation scheme.
Towns achieving Purple Flag status are recognised for providing a vibrant mix of night-time entertainment while promoting the safety and wellbeing of visitors and local residents.
To celebrate the award the distinctive purple MAVISbus will be in Princess Royal Square from 7pm on Saturday. Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to look round the bus and talk to the police and officers from the council's community safety and licensing teams about the multi-agency partnership work that goes on to ensure Weston is a Purple Flag town.
In addition, venues such as the Grand Pier and Revo, along with the lighting along the seafront, will be turning purple in celebration.
MAVISbus is used in Weston’s evening night-time economy as a safe space, help point and multi-agency hub, reducing the strain on other emergency services and helping to ensure people have an enjoyable and safe night out. It is usually parked in Princess Royal Square on Saturday nights between 9pm and 3am and when there is a major event taking place in the town.
