When we have decided whether or not to list an asset, we tell certain groups and organisations the reasons for our decision, including
- the town or parish council
- the ward councillor(s)
- the owner of the asset
- the holder of the freehold estate and the holder of any leasehold estate
- any lawful occupant
- statutory undertakers such as utility companies
Assets are listed for five years and registered on the local land charges register. We also inform HM Land Registry who register a restriction against the asset.
The owner of a listed asset must tell us if they intend to sell it.
