Power outages
National Grid is working hard to get power back and running, which is expected to happen on Saturday evening. As this is an ever-changing picture, we recommended you check the National Grid website for the latest information and updates.
Our Rapid Response service operates 24/7 and is available for anybody who is alone and at risk during power outages. We'd like to encourage family and friends to check on elderly or more vulnerable neighbours but, if needed, our emergency response service is available. In an emergency, please contact the Emergency Duty Team on 01454 615165.
National Grid will also prioritise vulnerable residents without power who joined their priority services register. This provides extra help and additional support during a power cut for the elderly, very ill, disabled or those who rely on power for medical equipment. To find out more about the priority service, visit the priority services section of the National Grid website.
Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP)
We activated our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) on Friday to provide shelter to people sleeping rough. We work in partnership with the YMCA outreach team and Somewhere to Go Day Centre. When activated, anyone who is sleeping rough is encouraged to have a bed for the night. SWEP will be under continuous review until Friday 13 December.
Not everyone sleeping rough wants to accept the offer and they will have reasons of their own for declining. If you are worried about anyone sleeping rough, please send an alert to the outreach team by visiting the Streetlink website.
