Weston-super-Mare Carnival

The next Weston-super-Mare Carnival will take place on Friday 8 November 2024.

The procession starts at 7pm and gives an evening of family entertainment and raises money for local charitable causes. Entries include illuminated floats, marching bands, fancy dress walkers and entertainers parading through the town.

If viewing please give generously at the event or online and reward the efforts of the many volunteers who make the event possible.

The route

The procession starts at Locking Road car park and heads down Alfred Street, turns left on to the Boulevard. It runs through Waterloo Street and South Parade before turning left at the Cabot on to the seafront (Royal Parade). The procession ends at Bistrot Pierre.

Road closures

Car parking

The carnival organisers will be operating a car park on the Beach Lawns from 2pm. Charges are £10 all day per car.

Visitors are also advised to take advantage of on-street parking where possible and enjoy a leisurely stroll into town.

Organisers inform there is very limited disabled parking available on a first come first served basis. We recommend arriving early as spaces are likely to fill up quickly.

If you are using any of the below town centre car parks or are parking on streets inside the road closures, you will not be able to exit until the procession has finished.

  • Walliscote Grove Road East and West
  • Walliscote Place
  • Royal Hotel
  • The Sovereign

There'll be no access to Carlton Street car park after 5.30pm. Vehicles may be allowed to leave by turning left out of the car park and left onto Beach Road (southbound only), unless Beach Road is being used as the end of the carnival route, in which case exit will be stopped until the end of the parade

Please be aware that Tesco car park will not be open we cannot recommend the NCP on the High Street, which usually closes at 9.30pm.

Car parks not affected by road closures are:

  • Beach Lawns
  • Madeira Road
  • Melrose
  • Hampton
  • Grove Park

No wait coning

No waiting cones will be put out during the morning of the Carnival and will be enforced. On street pay and display parking is only available until 3pm.

Parking charges on all other streets will apply as normal.

Please make sure vehicles are removed from the procession route by 3pm.

After this time any vehicle parked on no waiting cones could be issued with a penalty ticket, and if considered to be causing an obstruction, may be removed.
