Religious education
The locally agreed religious education syllabus
View the locally agreed syllabus on the Awareness, Mystery and Value website
As well as the statutory programmes of study the Awareness, Mystery and Value website contains guidance and resources for senior managers, teachers and governors to help understand the legal rules and put the syllabus into practice.
The locally agreed syllabus for religious education must be followed by:
- community schools
- Church of England voluntary controlled schools
Church of England and Methodist voluntary aided schools also follow the locally agreed syllabus, as advised and supplemented by the Diocese of Bath & Wells.
Roman Catholic voluntary aided schools have their own syllabus to follow, but the Clifton Diocese recommends the North Somerset agreed syllabus as a useful resource.
Academies and non-local authority schools wishing to use the syllabus and supporting material must contact the North Somerset Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education Clerk and ask for further details.
Further guidance on Religious Education
Academies and non-local authority schools wanting to use the syllabus and supporting material must follow conditions of use.
