North Somerset Council is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office for the purposes of processing personal data. The information you provide will be held and used in accordance with the requirements of UK and European data protection law.
The information will form part of your child’s summer reading challenge record, and held until 30 November after the challenge finishes.
We will only collect the minimum personal data required to deliver the programme, which includes name, library card number, age, gender and name of school. It does not include any special category personal information, or information relating to criminal convictions or offences.
In order to lawfully process your child’s personal data, we are reliant on your consent, and if your child is over 13 years of age, we also require their consent. We will not use your personal information in a way that may cause you unwarranted nuisance. You do not have to provide this information and you can withdraw your consent at any time during the summer reading challenge or after it ends. Please speak to a member of staff to ask them to delete your child’s name and library card number from the summer reading challenge register. Your child will only be entered into the prize draw if we have their name and library card number. The information will be used by library staff to record details of children registered on the summer reading challenge. It will be used to compile statistical data about participation in this year’s challenge, which can be compared with previous years, and used to gain insight into the best way to promote and run the challenge. At the end of the challenge we will share statistics with the Reading Agency and individual primary schools in North Somerset.
