International recruitment

If you are a care worker

Displaced workers

You are considered a displaced international recruit if you have received a letter from UKVI saying your sponsor (employer) has had their licence revoked.

This means that you may need to find another sponsor who will employ you so you can stay in the UK.

Support available

If you want further information after you receive your letter, call the UK Visas and Immigration Contact Centre on 0300 790 6268 (select option 2).

More information and other forms of contact can be found on the GOV.UK website.

The Department for Health and Social Care have produced guidance to help international recruits looking for jobs in the UK's social care sector.

This guidance includes information on:

The scheme offers access to a range of support for both your business and your international workers.

  • webinars - for those who are both new and experienced to sponsoring overseas workers
  • cultural awareness training
  • monthly legal updates
  • access to 30 minutes individual advice from a specialist solicitor (subject to availability)
  • guidance from C&SW project staff about the support options available that could be best for your organisation
  • monthly newsletters

See the Care and Support West website for more information.

Training

Bristol City Council has organised cultural awareness training sessions for sponsored care workers. These will be delivered by ASH Healthcare Training and start in January 2025.

The sessions are for sponsored care workers who have recently arrived to the UK. Care workers who have recently started working in a local care setting are also eligible.

Training will take place over a full day - 9:30 for 10am start until 16:30PM.

The training will focus on:

  • care values
  • improving communication skills
  • improving record keeping
  • how to delivery care with dignity and respect

Local care providers have kindly offered training rooms to accommodate this training across the BNSSG area. This is to provide a session local to your organisation. There are 12 places available for each date so these may fill up quickly.

Upcoming training sessions to be announced.

These sessions are bookable via eventbrite.

If you have any questions about these sessions please contact greta.cerniauskaite@bristol.gov.uk.
