Work experience and placements

Applications for work experience during the 2024-25 academic year are now closed.

If you are seeking an adult social care placement, including those that are part of degree or post-graduate courses, contact our learning and development adults team directly by emailing adultslearning@n-somerset.gov.uk.

Our work experience and placements aim to help people develop their skills, improve confidence and gain practical experience in the workplace. They also provide a look into the multiple career paths available within North Somerset Council.

We offer placements for:

  • school pupils
  • sixth form and college students
  • degree and postgraduate students
  • all adults, whether on a course or not, who might want to broaden their skills, change direction or re-join the workforce

These placements are usually in person but they can be hybrid or remote on request for a suitable applicant. Hybrid means a mixture of working in person and at home and remote is completely at home.

We welcome applications from everyone, including those who live outside the North Somerset Council area and who can reliably travel to our workplaces.

We are pleased to provide work experience opportunities for people who are care experienced and those with disabilities. For more information about how we make our work experience opportunities accessible please contact us by email at workexperience@n-somerset.gov.uk

How to apply

We are now closed for work experience and placements for the 2024-25 academic year.

There has been a significant demand for placements.

We will review opening for further applications from non-school applicants as the year progresses and if we have the capacity to offer more placements.

If you are seeking an adult social care placement, including those that are part of degree or post-graduate courses, contact our learning and development adults team directly by emailing adultslearning@n-somerset.gov.uk.

Thank you for your interest in North Somerset Council.
