Portishead parks and open spaces volunteering

Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve

North Somerset Council has been managing this site since 2017. The site is a complex nature reserve made up of grazed grass meadows and various water bodies. It is important to a range of wildlife.

The volunteers are lead by our ranger as part of our Glendale contract. They carry out a range of tasks from surveying to reed management.

To find out more please contact Mia Calderan at Glendale Services.

Portishead in Bloom

Portishead in Bloom are an independent group of volunteers who aim to enhance areas of Portishead.

They enter Portishead into the national In Bloom competition each year and are proud to have achieved gold at the local and national awards for a number of years.

Portishead in Bloom work in partnership with North Somerset Council and are supported by Portishead Town Council.

Turn the Tide

Operating in Portishead, Turn the Tide organises litter picks throughout the year. They focus on removing plastic from the tide line preventing it from re-entering the sea environment.

Through various funding applications they have managed to secure ‘two minute litter picking boards’ which are situated around Portishead.
