Changes to your application or transport

Updating your application

Change of details

You must submit a new application if you currently have a travel offer but wish to change any details from on your original application (for example, a change of address). Officers will then advise you if you remain eligible.

If the change is minor, a phone number for example, please email the home to school transport team via schooltransport@n-somerset.gov.uk and we will update your details accordingly.

Transport no longer needed

Please email our home to school transport team via schooltransport@n-somerset.gov.uk and let us know if you no longer need transport and we will notify the operator of the change.

If you use a bus or train pass you will be asked to return this or show evidence of destruction.

Changes to your travel arrangements

Using a different service

If you have been allocated a specific service you will need to use that service.

There are a limited number of vehicles operating at each school and only those students approved to travel may do so. Anyone else will be turned away by the driver.

We ask that parents and carers read our code of conduct with their child to understand our expectations when using transport.

If your child is not travelling

If your child will not be travelling on any given day due to sickness or hospital appointments we ask that you inform the operator directly.

This does not apply to those who have been issued with bus or train passes.

Staying at school after hours

If your child needs to remain at school after usual hours, such as for after school clubs, it is the parent/carer's responsibility to make their own travel arrangements as home to school travel services will not be provided.

Travel from more than one address

Travel assistance is only provided from the child's permanent home address and their registered school.

The address where they spend most of the school week will be considered as the child's main address. It is from this location we will determine if you are eligible for travel assistance.

If a parent is not home when a child is dropped off

If a parent or carer is not at the home address to receive their children, the driver and/or passenger assistant will complete the route and then try again.

If there is still no-one at home, they will contact the school's allocated transport officer and the child will be taken to the nearest safe space that can meet needs or to a police station.
