Bus services across the Weston-super-Mare area are set to change from 3 September 2023 to include new routes and higher frequency services to meet town growth.

A new public garden and area for playing ‘pétanque’, also known as boules, at the Beach Lawns in Weston-super-Mare has been officially opened today (Monday 24 July) by North Somerset Council.

The summer holidays have now started and there’s plenty of free or low-cost activities to enjoy around North Somerset, helping families make the pennies go further.

Over 15 organisations across North Somerset are benefiting from a £200K pot of funding to bring about real community benefits and make a difference to residents’ lives.

Last night’s public meeting in Clevedon about the review of the town’s seafront and Hill Road area active travel scheme was so well-attended that people had to be turned away at the door as the meeting got under way. 

From Monday 31 July 2023, a temporary one-way traffic system will be in place on Kewstoke Road in Weston-super-Mare. 

North Somerset Council welcomes the announcement that JLR (formerly Jaguar Land Rover) will be building its giga factory at Gravity Business Park in Somerset. This development will present significant opportunities for North Somerset’s businesses and residents and supports the council's inward investment goals.

Four of North Somerset's parks and green spaces have been officially recognised as some of the country’s best parks and will proudly fly the Green Flag again this year:

Birnbeck Holdings Ltd have agreed to sell Birnbeck Pier to North Somerset Council today (Thursday 13 July), avoiding the need for a legal Compulsory Purchase Order Public Inquiry which was scheduled to take place in August.

An additional £11.9m of funding for the Banwell bypass was unanimously agreed at yesterday’s (Tuesday 11 July) Full Council meeting.

The Government’s Planning Inspectorate has dismissed an appeal made by a developer who was refused outline planning permission by North Somerset Council.

A scheme intended to improve access in Clevedon for pedestrians and cyclists is to be the subject of an independent review delivering on a commitment made by North Somerset Council in May.
