The Learning Mentor Network is a valuable resource for learning support staff in North Somerset schools. It provides affordable, high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and supervision opportunities, enabling staff to better support students' emotional needs.
The network provides the following:
- Training and supervision: led by an Educational Psychologist, the network provides training based on common school needs and includes input from experts like Play Therapists. It also offers supervision, sharing best practices and directing staff to useful resources
- Meetings: the network meets for two hours, six times a year, covering different training topics each session. Past topics include school refusal, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) methods and the Circle of Friends program
Staff benefits
Learning support staff gain access to consistent, affordable, and relevant CPD and supervision. All attendees receive a record of training events they have attended at the end of each academic year.
The network also helps staff stay informed about Local Authority and national initiatives, share skills and build connections with colleagues and schools.
