SENCO network and conference

We launched a new model of delivery for our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) Networks in 2022. This has been successfully running for two years. These changes were made in response to feedback from:

  • SENCOs
  • Educational Psychologists (EPs)
  • SENCO Networks
  • our evaluation forms

We recognise the positives that come from having an opportunity to have CPD. It is important to share experiences with other SENCOs. It can help provide support to the challenges that arise while balancing the time demands of being a SENCO.

Our new approach will provide SENCOs with opportunities to come together. It will also offer meaningful Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions.

What the new offer includes

Virtual CPD training sessions

We will offer two virtual CPD training sessions a year. These will be up to two hours long and run by two psychologists working together.

The CPD sessions will run in once in the Autumn Term and once in the Spring Term. Each term we will have one session running for primary school SENCOs and one session running for secondary school SENCOs.

All SENCOs will be invited to attend the CPD sessions.

Networking sessions

There will also be three networking sessions a year. These will be one hour long and run by the link psychologist. They will be held within your MATs or SENCO Network groups.

The focus of these sessions will be group problem-solving for any topics that SENCOs may want to discuss. It will also be for reflecting on the implementation of learning from the CPD sessions. In these sessions the psychologists will also provide local authority updates.

SENCO conference

There will be one half day SENCO conference on 1 July 2024, 9:00am to 12:30pm.

This will be a multi-agency conference that includes a range of talks from speakers. SENCOs will be invited to attend the talks that they feel are most relevant for them.
